  • Are you up for the best beer and culinary tour in Prague? Then let’s go! Let us lead you on this tour of the most reputable (though not always the most beautiful) beer sanctuaries in the city. A local tour guide leads this Prague beer tour along tram and Metro rides to visit four beer halls where you sample several beers and typical Czech ‘beer tapas’. (Yes, that is a real thing, promise!)

While appreciating the delicious Czech beer, you also hear stories about exciting moments in the country’s history and Czech lifestyle, from the Middle Ages through Communism to the present.

We begin our Prague food tour at the statue of the Czech patron saint, Saint Wenceslas, on top of Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí). It was here that many demonstrations took place during Communism and the Velvet Revolution in 1989 that brought down totalitarian rule.

We then head to a favourite local beer hall in Zizkov, a former industrial suburb that has become the epicentre of Prague’s rough-and-tumble nightlife. This #localsknow area is home to the most pubs of any other Prague district — more than 300 in just five square kilometres!

Choose from 10 kinds of beer, from the most famous Czech brands to lesser-known brews from small Czech microbreweries. Pair your beer with hearty pork chili, served with horseradish and mustard. Surrounded by walls adorned with pictures of the Communist Czech presidents, you hear stories about life under Communism as you enjoy your beer.

Next up on our Prague beer tour, we hop on the tram in search of a truly hidden gem at Vinohrady, where, aside from a jolly and cosy atmosphere, this beer cellar and garden also serves up 27 different Czech microbrewery beers! Don’t worry, we’ll help you choose. We also savour some pickled sausage, one of the most famous Czech beer snacks, which is served with onion and pepper. In our opinion, this place does it best in all of Prague, and trust us… we’ve done our homework.

Time to switch gears, but who knows where we’ll end up next! As local experts, we’ve always got our eyes peeled for what’s going on in the city, so the next stop varies based on the season and what’s happening – who has the most interesting beer on today, which pub has a band playing, etc. It’s up to you and your guide where you head to for this part of the adventure!

Next, we take the metro back to the Old Town for a legendary stop at the pub where the very first Pilsner Urquell draught was tasted in 1843. Of course, you get to sample Pilsner Urquell, the most famous Czech beer, from a tank rather than a keg, which means that the beer contains less CO2 and therefore tastes much better; it is very difficult to find this kind of beer abroad. There is no better place to tell beer-related stories in Prague than in this pub, and as part of it is set in a former church it’s a pretty funky hangout, too! You also learn about the birth of Pilsner, one of the most famous beers in the world, which is helpful in washing down a true Bohemian specialty – finely smoked pork neck with homemade potato pancakes and Bohemian-style white cabbage. Deeeelish!

After sampling the world-renowned Pilsner Urquell, we shift gears and head to a rather cosy new brewery pub near the Old Town square, where we finish up our Prague beer tour in style, with new friends and stories you’ll remember for a long, long time.

As there are just too many fantastic beer halls to fit into one tour, at the end of this Prague beer tour you’re given a map of Prague’s best beer halls, which point out some of our other favourite spots in the city!

Tom was very entertaining and informative about all the aspects of the beer drinking culture. Would love to have him again.

    Tomas was amazing!

Mr. Nirendra S. from South Africa travelled on 29 May 2018:

Lukas was great. Realy gave us a good experience.

Mrs. Ugne R. from Belarus travelled on 24 May 2018:

Really wonderful guide who goes above and beyond – he chose the best beer for us! It was also wonderful because the tour didn’t feel like a tour, more like hanging out and having a wonderful time with a group of friends (one of the friend being local and having amazing local knowledge about everything). 10 out of 10!

Mr. Vitezslav S. from Czech Republic travelled on 16 May 2018:

Lukas is amazing guide with perfect knowledge about Prague and local pubs. He knows probably everything about beer and czech pub culture. The tour with him was great experience and I hope that I will have such good experience in other countries with Urban adventures too 🙂

Mr. Dean M. from Spain travelled on 14 May 2018:

I really liked this tour, Johanka was a great guide, fun, friendly and informative, she made sure everything went smoothly (not easy after everyone had consumed a few beers). It was just the right mix of enjoyment and information, and we visited places that you wouldn’t normally go as a tourist. Along the way we had a look at daily life in Prague and a recieved a description of the many types of beers the Czech Republic has to offer. The tour is different every time, and it’s one I’d happily do again.

Mr. Cameron B. from Australia travelled on 11 May 2018:

Lucaś knowledge and passion for this tour and the Czech culture behind the beer is amazing and made this tour an experience to remember.

Ms. Ivana M. from Czech Republic travelled on 10 May 2018:

Our guide (Lukas) was really nice and took everyone into account. It was relaxing to meet new people, see nice pubs and taste delicious local beer and food. I would highly recommend this tour!

Mr. Brad S. from Australia travelled on 24 Apr 2018:

Great beers, heaps of awesome local food dishes and our guide Tomas was very good

Ms. Anne V. from Germany travelled on 30 Mar 2018:

Lukaš was the best guide ever! I learnt so much about Czech beers and culture and had lots of fun – it was more like going for beers with friends than being on a tour!

Mr. Matthias P. from Australia travelled on 25 Mar 2018:

We had a very nice evening with our excellent tour guide Lukáš who showed us some fine bars in Prague apart from the usual tourist spots. Urban Adventures keeps the group sizes tidy (not more than 6 people) so it was easy to bond and have nice converstations with everyone, including our guide. Very recommended.

Mr. Lucian S. from Australia travelled on 23 Mar 2018:

I attended this “beer-experience” recently and I was blown away. Everything was great, from the content in the glass, the food, the company (there were people from US, Australia, Brazil, UK and Romania/Germany, myself) and of course “our” guide Tomas, who was outstanding: personable, funny and patient with us, especially after the 4th beer. All in one, 5 stars are not enough! I would give 10.

Ms. Sophie K. from United Kingdom travelled on 29 Nov 2017:

Casey was a great tour guide! He was clearly very passionate about Prague beer, and Prague as a city in general. He took us to some really cool pubs and cafes that were off the beaten track. A memorable experience !

Ms. Sarah K. from USA travelled on 01 Oct 2017:

I really enjoyed this tour- Casey was an excellent guide! he seemed to really know his stuff and answered all of our questions easily. the beer and food recommendations were delicious, and I liked everything I tried. I also like that I got to see a bit of Prague outside the main center where normally I wouldn’t have gone. it wasn’t the cheapest Prague tour, but I had a fantastic time and learned a bit about Czech culture.

Mrs. Antoinette J. from Canada travelled on 22 Aug 2017:

Casey was awesome and vert knowledgeable. Had a great time.

Ms. Alex C. from USA travelled on 25 Jul 2017:

Lukas was an absolutely incredible tour guide. He was super knowledgeable on different beers and taught us a lot about the brewing process, different variations of beer, and helped us decide which beer would be best for our specific taste. He knew where all the amazing local beer pubs were and provided an incredible experience for us. A night to never forget in Prague. Thank you Lukas! I would recommend going on a tour with Lukas if you are are ever in Prague. 10/10

Mrs. Lane S. from USA travelled on 24 Jul 2017:

Lucas was friendly, informative and fun ! Thanks for a great evening. Also thanks for the follow up email and information.

    Mr. . .. from travelled on 24 Jul 2017:

Lucas was very friendly, spoke perfect English, and tried his best to get me a beverage other than beer as I was with a group but not a beer drinker. Still a great tour for me to see the interesting pubs and try the Czech food.

Mr. Josh E. from USA travelled on 23 Jul 2017:

I had an amazing experience, Lukas was great. I tried leaving a review on tripadvisor, but wasn’t sure how to, since I booked it through you guys. I’d say you should give that guy a promotion, but he’s so great at what he does! I had a great opportunity to learn more about Prague’s beer scene and history and got to meet some great people along the way as well (a few beers and a small group lends itself well to making friends!)

Mr. AARON V. from USA travelled on 12 May 2017:

This tour was so much fun! Lukas was a great tour guide and did a nice job of getting to know all of us and teaching us about the city and its beers. I couldn’t have been happier with my experience.

Mr. Lynda D. from Australia travelled on 08 May 2017:

Thoroughly enjoyed it and I am not a beer drinker. Lukas our guide was fantastic!

Mr. Mark T. from Australia travelled on 29 Apr 2017:

This was a great activity for anyone who enjoys beer and local food. Lukáš was an amazing guide who had obviously spent a lot of time researching (drinking beer) to provide us with a fantastic time riding the trams from one pub to the next and being our expert on local beers and food.
This is a must do evening when in Prague, Lukáš even emailed us the following day to remind us where he had taken us, what we had eaten and drank.
    Na zdravi Lukáš

Mr. Steve R. from travelled on 05 Apr 2017:

Tereza and Misa were extremely knowledgeable about Prague and Czech culture. They took the time to explain the subtle peculiarities with each stop. They were fluent in English and told us cestina so that we would know basics of the language. I thought this was an awesome thought!! I would strongly recommend them as tour guides and I would recommend both tours. In particular I liked the beer tour in the fact that we interacted with other tourists. This proved to be a wealthy cultural exchange.

Mrs. Connie T. from USA travelled on 28 Mar 2017:

We had a great time! Loved having a small group and getting the local experience. Food and beers were outstanding. Definitely a full dinner included by end of evening

Mr. Ashley B. from Australia travelled on 12 Mar 2017:

    Martin was absolutely brilliant.

Mrs. Tierney W. from USA travelled on 19 Feb 2017:

Our tour guide was informative, pleasant and very knowledgeable. He knew when to slow down to let the team connect, and knew when to jump in to generate conversation. Overall we learned so much about Prague and all it has to offer.

Mrs. Susan B. from Germany travelled on 30 Jan 2017:

We met our guide Misa on a chilly Saturday night and were instantly warmed by her friendliness and enthusiasm. Our small group (two couples) then went on tour of Prague beer halls and bars that felt more like a night out with friends than a ‘tour’. We sampled some outstanding Czech beers and tapas and learned a lot about brewing, culture and history along the way. Whether you’re in Prague for one night or an extended stay, do yourself a favour and book this tour; it’s fantastic value for money and we can’t thank the wonderful Misa enough for creating such a memorable experience for us. We couldn’t rate Misa or the tour more highly!

Ms. Georgina M. from Australia travelled on 20 Jan 2017:

Fantastic guide, and a really enjoyable evening out. I am not a huge beer drinker, but thought if I’m going to Prague I should try the beer – I am now a regular beer drinker because of this trip.

Mr. Thomas S. from USA travelled on 03 Jan 2017:

    Really knowledgeable and helpful guide.

Mr. Stuart B. from Australia travelled on 27 Dec 2016:

Misa was an excellent host! The whole evening was really good and I’d highly recommend. The local knowledge, of both bars & history, was a real highlight and all the beer and food tasted great. It was also really nice being in a little group, overall a fantastic night out!

Mrs. Angela K. from United Kingdom travelled on 09 Dec 2016:

An excellent night and introduction to Prague. Our guide Lukasz was brilliant very informative. Learnt a lot and not just about the beer and food

Lucas did a superb job! He was incredibly helpful to our group and really made us feel at home on top of being knowledgeable. Great job!

Ms. Judith E. from United Kingdom travelled on 15 Nov 2016:

An excellent tour with interesting food and great beer. Martin was a really good tour leader and very interesting to talk to about the recent history of Prague as well as beer!

Mr. Gregg L. from USA travelled on 09 Nov 2016:

Misha rocked! Would gladly do another tour with her, even have her to my own home. I like meeting good people, and she is one of them.

Mrs. Beate K. from Austria travelled on 02 Nov 2016:

We were a group of 3 austrian girls and had our tour with Travis, all alone because nobody else had booked the tour on our date. Travis knew everything we asked him about Prague no matter what and we had a blast exploring Prague – and of course its best beers and specialties in food.
We can definitely recommend urbanadventures and it won’t be our last tour (:

Mr. Dennis C. from USA travelled on 26 Oct 2016:

The Beer & Czech “tapas” tour is perfect. I didn’t want to do a full blown food tour because we found that meals, while delicious are very heavy and beer can be quite filling as well. So the little bites and snacks on offer at the pubs were perfectly sized and DELICIOUS as we’re the beers. Our guide Martin, was incredibly knowledgeable of the local beer scene and was a delight to hang out with whether toasting our beers or traveling around the city. Loved the small group size, made it a more personal and intimate experience. Would highly recommend to others if visiting Prague and would like to check out other UA tours in other cities now. Thanks for a great experience!!!

Mr. babette t. from USA travelled on 18 Oct 2016:

Martin was an extraordinary guide who led us through the streets of Prague with history of, an incredible knowledge of beer and a fun loving manne! He rates a 10+

Ms. Elizabeth M. from USA travelled on 23 Aug 2016:

Our guide Martin was excellent. He was very knowledgeable both about the beer/food and Czech history. I don’t eat meat and had eaten a big lunch anticipating not to be able to partake in the tapas, but Martin was extremely accommodating and ordered no-meat options, as well as, meat dishes. Overall my boyfriend and I had a great time and would definitely recommend the tour to friends and family!

Mrs. Susan T. from USA travelled on 18 Jul 2016:

Martin was fantastic! We learned so much about Prague and CR along with great beer and wonderful food.

Mr. Mokgatle M. from South Africa travelled on 11 Jul 2016:

    An excellent trip!!!

Ms. April P. from USA travelled on 25 Jun 2016:

Travis was an excellent guide. It was even better that we met other could adventurers on the tour too.

Mrs. Irene M. from Canada travelled on 22 Jun 2016:

    Fun tour

Ms. Ali G. from Afghanistan travelled on 17 Jun 2016:

I really enjoyed this tour. Our guide, Travis, really knew what he was talking about and told us a lot about Czech beer, the food we were eating, and some interesting info about Prague’s history. We had some delicious potato chips at one pub and some really fantastic cheese at another, plus all the other food…really great to compliment the beers. Travis was fun to talk to and laid back, so not only did we have interesting conversations with him but we also had time to chat with the other people in our group, which is always fun. He seemed to really know how to run a tour, and this was probably the best thing we did during our 4 days in Prague. Highly recommend taking the craft beer tour!

Mrs. Wendy M. from New Zealand travelled on 07 Jun 2016:

Our guide was fantastic we had so much fun will highly recommend to all my friends

Ms. Karen D. from USA travelled on 18 May 2016:

Martin was our tour guide and he was excellent! He was very knowledgeable and taught us alot about the beer industry in the Czech Republic. He took us to some wonderful places, the beer was great and the food was delicious and plentiful. Our tour ran a bit long but Martin never made us feel rushed. Would definitely recommend this activity to any travelers to Prague!

Mr. Tomasz K. from Poland travelled on 10 Apr 2016:

This tour is just perfect to get to know bars out of the beaten track, meet some interesting travellers and try some great beers and food. Thank you for making it so memorable!

Cecilia C. from Spain travelled on 08 Apr 2016:

The tour was a great way to learn about Prague local culture and food!

Ms. Anke R. from Germany travelled on 27 Mar 2016:

The tour with Travis was great! As it was only the two of us and Travis, it was like meeting a local showing us his favorite places. We visited four pubs and we liked them all. The beer and the food tasted great, also the portions were quite big.
We did some food tours in Berlin, but this one was definitely the best so far! Travis is awesome, we had a great time with him! Thanks again!

Ms. Fiona R. from Australia travelled on 11 Dec 2015:

We had a blast doing this tour – there was ample drink and food and a great variety of venues. We had brilliant company in our host and fellow companions. We highly recommend this tour to fellow travellers.

Our guide Nikki was extremely nice, thoughtful, enthusiastic and knowledgable, had a really fun few hours.

Mr. Michael B. from United Kingdom travelled on 10 Nov 2015:

The tour was excellent, and Patrick was excellent. Nice to experience the city outside of our comfort zone.

Ms. Wai Ling M. from Singapore travelled on 13 Oct 2015:

Travis was a guide. He was very knowledgeable and most willing to share tips about the city. Though we went on a beer tour, we also learned about Czech history, literature and philosophy.

Mr. Diane L. from Australia travelled on 12 Oct 2015:

    We highly recommend this excursion!

Ms. Este O. from South Africa travelled on 07 Oct 2015:

Pete was an excellent guide on the Prague Beer and Tapas tour. I enjoyed the evening tremendously and it gave me insight into the beer and food culture of Prague. We went to historical places and tried local brews as well as the food that goes with it – ending off with the famous Pilsner Urquell and pancakes for dessert!

Mr. Gregg M. from USA travelled on 11 Sep 2015:

I rarely, if ever, rate an experience so highly, but the Food & Beer took we took in Prague was exceptional and I could not recommend it more highly.

Mr. Andrew T. from Australia travelled on 06 May 2015:

I was a slow walker (hip trouble) but guide was thoughtful and we took two taxis @ only 100 Czech crowns each, (about three pounds sterling). Very good value. Great beers which you can select yourself.

Ms. Tonya C. from USA travelled on 23 Apr 2015:

Niki was a great tour guide and fun to drink beer with. This was a great experience!

Mr. Andy M. from United Kingdom travelled on 12 Mar 2015:

    great tour.

Mr. Khiry H. from New Zealand travelled on 05 Mar 2015:

Travis was a great guide around our tour in Prague. I did not expect to be shown round by an American haha, however his local knowledge was outstanding and his communication was great. He is a true beer lover and knows so much. It was so interesting for me to learn about the Czech drinking culture, also the fact I can now say that I’ve eaten a drowning man! Even better haha.

Mr. John L. from Australia travelled on 22 Dec 2014:

Looking for an introduction to Prague in general and Czech beer culture in particular, I couldn’t have asked for a better night out than this, with the expert guidance of Niki to open my eyes to the best that Prague had to offer.
Of course, the fact that the other group members failed to arrive at Wenceslas Square at the appointed time for the tour to start needs to be mentioned, as I ended up having a one-to-one guided tour around four of the more interesting bars in the city, as well as a real “local” view of Prague’s history, culture and political background.
It helped Niki and I to bond that I already knew a few things about Vaclav Havel and Jan Kubis and Josef Gabcik, but I learned so much about the Czech drinking culture, the city’s history and it’s place in the region – he was a real treasure trove of facts and stories, delivered in a friendly and fun way – the night flew by, well beyond the advertised three hour duration, which should be closer to four or so.
I’ve done a few of these guided tours, in cities like Lisbon, Berlin, Athens and Istanbul, but this was amongst the best that I’ve ever been on – thanks to a combination of Niki’s excellent guidance and some of the best beer I’ve tasted in a long time.
I particularly liked that we went off the beaten path, away from the obvious tourist spots, to sample bars that the locals frequent. That was one of the best aspects of the tour.
An excellent experience and highly recommended to any visitor to Prague.

Mrs. Claudia G. from Germany travelled on 26 Nov 2014:

Had a lovely evening discovering Prague’s not so touristy beer bars. The guide Nikki was knowledgeable on beer, snacks and locations and great to talk with. Will definitely go on an adventure with you again!

Niki was just right to lead the beer tour. Fun, friendly, informative and welcoming.

Ms. Ruth W. from USA travelled on 25 Jun 2014:

Nikki is the best ever. I traveled with my son, who is a craft beer aficionado. Nikki made the tour great fun, culturally relevant, and memorable!
